30 Week Pregnancy Reflection {baby two}

How far along?:  I'm about 30 weeks along in my second pregnancy - TEN weeks and counting!

I am feeling:  A little down after getting diagnosed with gestational diabetes today.  I failed the three hour test.  My resting level was 90, I passed that one.  My one hour level had to be under 190 and it was 217!  UGH.  I needed to pass the second test with a level of 165 or below and I failed it with a 175, so I didn't even make it to the three hour test.  I know eventually I will feel determined and ready to go and feel empowered by the new changes (diet and exercise) - but right now I just feel bummed out about it.  I am worried about the chances of having a gigantic baby that would require a c-section.  I worried about any other ways this will impact Molly's well-being.  I'm worried about failing and not being able to control this.

Movement:  Molly has been a moving machine lately!  I feel her mostly on the right side of my body (where her legs are) and it's gotten to the point where her limbs can really stick out of my skin!  She loves to move while I read.  (Currently reading the Divergent series and ALMOST done... they are AMAZING!!!)

What I miss most:  Ugh.  Right now, I miss not having to worry about my blood sugar level.  Not having to log every. single. thing. I ingest.  I haven't had to start testing my levels yet - but by the end of this week that'll be added onto things as well.  I know the better part of me is going to be pointing out the silver lining of this situation - but that will probably be a couple days from now...

Cravings:  Doughnuts, of course.  :(

Best moment of the week:  Finding out Molly's kidneys are OKAY and back to normal at the specialist on Monday!!!!  That was SUCH a huge relief.  Second best moment of the week?  Getting to see her beautiful face for the first time and in 4d!  It seriously blew me away how amazing the photos were.

What I'm excited about:  Rereading the Divergent series.  Not even done with the third and final book yet and I am already planning on reading them all over again!  This is necessary because I seriously flew through them the first time that I'm sure none of the information was retained.  Not to mention they are just THAT GOOD.

28 week Pregnancy Reflection!

How far along?:  As of today I am 28 weeks & 3 days along in my first pregnancy with 11 weeks & 4 days to go!

A picture I took halfway through last week!

Size of the baby:  This week the baby is the size of a small cabbage!

We have a cabbage patch baby this week - 17 inches and 2.9 lbs!

Gender:  Could not be MORE excited for our baby girl!!!!

Movement:  I've found she doesn't move a whole lot while I'm at work in the AM as she probably likes to sleep in if she's anything like her parents!  The most popular time for Presley to be moving around is early-late evening, especially if we're lounging around watching a movie.

Cravings/Aversions:  This past week I went crazy for fruit eating a TON of clementines, bananas, and honey-crisp apples (why do I have to like the most expensive ones?!).  I had some delicious strawberries as well which was a nice surprise as they're usually icky by this time of year.  I'm also really liking the way milk is tasting and still loving sugary things like candy bars and desserts of all kinds.

I am feeling:  Kinda weird after the glucose test today.  My stomach doesn't exactly hurt... it just feels a little funny.  I've also been even more tired than usual these past few days and will just fall asleep at any given time throughout the day in the middle of things.  Thankfully I have the sweetest husband who lets me sleep even though there are things that need to be done around the house; not sure what I'd do without his support and unconditional love.

The sugary orange drink; it wasn't TERRIBLE but wasn't wonderful either.

Best moment of the week:  I would have to say one of the best moments of the week happened Saturday-- when I woke up from an afternoon nap Tony had rearranged the furniture in the living room, put up the tree, and got furniture out of the spare bedroom we didn't need in there anymore.  Not only did I feel refreshed after the nap, but it was such a good feeling seeing how much work he put into the house in that short amount of time!

What I'm most looking forward to:  Amanda coming to visit, going to Chicago (Portillos, IKEA, downtown, ETC!!!) for the weekend, family Christmas get together --all happening next week!  I only wish Ashley could be here for all of it, too, and their significant others and then it'd really be a party!!!  BUT, we'll all be reunited soon enough!

Goals for this week:  1) Get the crib up, 2) Arrange the nursery how we want it, 3) Get curtains and X-mas lights up in bedroom, 4) Figure out where the water is coming from in the corner of our room, 5) Get the house ready for our visitor

On a totally different note:  Today is a special day, it's Walt Disney's 110th birthday!  Walt Disney is one of my favorite people in all of history so I'm going to take a moment to celebrate his life today.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WALT!  If it wasn't for your vision, my husband and I wouldn't have had the blissful, magical, completely unforgettable honeymoon and all around best weeks of our lives that we had.  We are constantly dreaming about going back someday and now it'll be even more special to share it with our little one sometime in the future.  You keep making dreams come true even after you've passed on --if we could all be lucky enough to make such an impact someday there would be way more smiles on this planet!!!  Walt Disney wanted to build a park that adults and children could enjoy together-- most especially so he could enjoy the daddy/daughter time he spent with his girls.  I was one of those lucky kids who got to do just that with my sisters and both of my parents as a child and it was a time I cherish now!!  So, big thanks to Walter Elias for all you've created and congratulations on all your success;  wish you could be here to celebrate today in all your glory!

27 week Pregnancy Reflection

How far along?:  Today, I'm 27 weeks & 3 days along in my first pregnancy... 12 weeks & 4 days to go!

That's me, with the big ole' belly!  Hello third trimester!

Size of the baby:  Baby is the size of a HEAD OF CAULIFLOWER!  Can you believe it?!  Seems like only yesterday we were in Mexico with our family calling the baby "Oliver" because it was the size of an olive!

16 inches and 2.5 lbs!

Gender:  A baby girl!  :)

Movement:  She is moving several times throughout the day --especially right before I drift off to sleep every night.  She's gotten a LOT stronger, too, and when she kicks you can see my belly move from the outside.

Cravings/Aversions:  Still turning my nose up to shrimp, although, cocktail shrimp has actually started to sound really delicious!!!  Craving bananas, clementines, and oddly enough... milk!

I am feeling:  Pretty spectacular!!!! Honestly, no complaints!  I've been feeling great and have had enough energy to get things done around the house as well as working out a few times a week again (although I started to get crampy on the elliptical yesterday which made me nervous so I stopped halfway through).

Best moment of the week:  Definitely the Thanksgiving celebrations - SOO much good food - in addition to seeing Breaking Dawn last Tuesday.

What I'm most looking forward to:  I'm actually looking forward to my glucose test on the 5th!  I feel so relieved that I don't have to fast beforehand because I work that morning and my appointment isn't until 1:15... I would be SO cranky if I had to fast until after the hour-long test.  I'm also looking forward to my big sister coming to visit on the 16th!!!!  I know that's still a little bit of time off --but it doesn't change the fact that we're getting ready and I'm getting more & more excited!  She'll be our first guest at our new rental house.

Goals for this week:  1) Get the crib up, 2) rearrange furniture in nursery, 3) rearrange furniture in living room, 4) get curtains up in master bedroom, 5) put the Christmas tree up & Christmas lights in the windows, 6) get blinds for the window on the door in the kitchen (Menards), 7) get new light bulbs for the Ikea floor lamp (Menards)...
